I've Been Tagged!

Well, I have been tagged (super excited!) by LeAnne over at

LeAnne is one of the newest members of the Whimsical Scraps & Bugs Design Team and is extremely talented! I absolutely love her work and hope you take a moment to check out her blog!

The rules of this tag go something like this:
Get on your computer and go to the 6th folder in your pictures files.
Once you are in your 6th folder, pick the 6th picture there and post it with a short explanation about who/what is going on.
Once you do that, tag 6 more people on your blog that you would like to know more about!

The photo I am posting is of my fantastic mom-in-law (yes, there are great ones out there and I am blessed to lay claim to one!) Shirley. This photo was taken Christmas Eve as she was cooking in the kitchen during one of our annual family traditions! Every Christmas Eve we stay at my hubby's parents, along with his sister & her family, and we wake up and open presents Christmas morning just like everyone does when they are little. We have an annual Christmas breakfast and dinner. There are even presents from Santa for all of us"kids!" It is always amazing!

Now, to tag 6 others....hmmm....let's see....
1. Beatriz -
2. Heather -
3. Estee -
4. Okie -
5. Meg -
6. Christina -

Hope you all take a moment to check out their awesome blogs!

Challenge #8

Here is the layout for the challenge over at Whimsical Scraps & Bugs blogspot that Cindy and I host. Not only do we have a number of amazing layouts posted there for this challenge, but we also have a new group of Design Team members whom I know will bring amazing projects to the site for everyone to enjoy!

For this layout we had to incorporate a heart and use pink, red and white. I used the Indie Art Cricut Cartridge. The photo is one of my hubby, Andy, a few months after we first met. I took the photo at a park during our first picnic where he met my mom for the first time.

Products used included Bazzill, The Paper Studio, Making Memories, ProvoCraft rub-ons, and pop dots.

Make sure you visit the Whimsical Scraps & Bugs site to see all the great creations the DT members came up with for this challenge!

Valentines Cards

Since I didn't get a head start on my Christmas cards and therefore didn't get any out, I figured I would definitely start a little early with my Valentine cards - especially considering I am more of layout person and have only been doing cards for a short while! And, as Okie does, I figured I should probably make at least two of each card, and on some I made three of each. She always does six, but I didn't have it in me to do that many!

The green card on the bottom and the second one from the left on the top row are Stampin' Up designs - I just tweaked them a little bit. The rest are Card Maps, with the exception of the pink one with the big, white bow. Nothing special, but it is all mine! LOL And the green one, a little non-traditional valentine! I used a Stampin' Up! stamp on it that says "XOXO" and then has a heart. Can't remember the name of the set, but I love it! Also, other than that one Stampin' Up! stamp, the rest I used were KI Memories clear stamps. Love them! I wish Stampin' Up! would come out with clear stamps!!

I used a variety of products including Stampin' Up!, KI Memories, Bazzill, The Paper Studio, Making Memories, Miss Elizabeth, Stickles, & Rain Dots .

My Wish For You

I am on a roll this year! Yay! Another change I am working on making - Scrapping more, swapping less. Don't get me wrong, swapping is a blast! However, I find myself not accomplishing much of my own stuff!

This layout is again of our son, TJ. I took it early last spring. He actually posed for me without going, "Oh Mom! Geesh!" The title comes from a Rascal Flatts song that I just adore. The first time I heard it, I thought of my son and just knew I had to do a layout that featured it.

The journaling on the layout is actually the chorus from the song and reads: my wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, you never need to carry more than you can hold, and while you're out there getting where you're getting to, i hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, yeah, this, is my wish.

I used my Cricut and both the George and Opposites Attracts cartridges for the title. On the word "wish" (even though you can't see it very well in the photo) I also used dimensional paint, which back in my day we used to call puffy paint since we would all decorate our acid wash jeans with it as teenagers! Other products used include Bazzill, DCWV, & The Paper Studio paper, silk flowers, buttons, the almighty pop dot, and black ribbon from Micheal's. I should also add that this was another Page Maps layout design. I am so in love with them...can ya tell!!

Challenge #7

It's that time again and here is my design for the blogspot Cindy and I host, Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. For this particular project we challenged our DT members to create a layout using a particular Page Map from

For this project I decided to use some photos of our son and my husband's parents, his Neena and Papaw, at Christmas a few weeks ago. I wanted to do something a little non-traditional for a Christmas-themed layout, hence the color combos. Probably my fav thing about this layout is that I was able to incorporate the ribbon from one of his presents into the layout.

I used my Cricut and the George cartridge to cut the triangle shapes for the Christmas trees, as well as Home Accents for the journaling tag and Opposites Attract for the title. Products used included Bazzill cardstock, My Mind's Eye & American Crafts paper, Queen & Co. felt flower trim, Making Memories brads, Prima flowers, Basic Grey rub-ons, skittles, pop dots & a white Sakura jelly roll pen for the journaling.

By the way, Whimsical Scraps & Bugs is hosting Round 3 of Design Team submissions. Hop on over to our blog and check it out. We would love for everyone to participate in our next challenge, which is a Valentine's Day theme, and submit your projects to us. We love to see all the wonderful talent that is present in our scrapbooking community!!

Life is a journey (not to mention an adventure!) and it is always that way with our two boys - our son, TJ, and our Boxer baby, Sid. I did this LO based on a Basic Grey page map - thanks to Snoflake and Okieladybug I have discovered the joy of Page Maps!! They make my life so simple and I can't believe I lived without using them this long! Seriously, I challenge everyone to try them out if you don't already use them - they make a world of difference!

And, since my Word To Live By for 2009 is change, that is exactly what I did in this LO. What did I change you might ask? I didn't use my Cricut or Cuttlebug!! Gasp!! I know, hard to believe since I practically sleep with my Cricut, but I wanted to change things up and be able to try something new! And guess what?! I LOVED how this turned out. The photos are of TJ and Sid at the park one day in very early Spring. They were walking up a trail headed toward the pond and I just decided to snap some shots showing their progress.

The journaling says: Best Buds. Brothers. Partners in Crime. That's Our Boys. Sid & TJ. '08

The products used for this layout include Stampin' Up! paper, Basic Grey ribbon, Prima flowers, Skittles, & Making Memories chipboard!

2009 Word To Live By

While looking at a fellow Cricut MB'ers blog, www.christyszaneycreations, she had something pretty neat posted on her site that I had to check out: Tip Junkie's Talk To Me Tuesday.

This week, Talk To Me Tuesday featured something pretty cool. A word to describe how you will live for 2009. Something to define, or redefine, how you live and maybe even who you are in the long run. Well, after a lot of thought, I finally came up with my word to live by for 2009.

Sometimes, heck, most of the time, change can be such a fearful aspect of life that it often wreaks more havoc than good. But not this year - not for me. No siree! Change is going to define me and bring me to a place where I have needed to be for a long time. Positive change in all areas of my life from big to little. I won't be afraid to step out of bounds or color outside the lines. Nope - not this gal anymore. I am going to face things head on, not head down!

There are so many things I want to change from being a better parent and spouse to being a better crafter. Change the way I look at life and change the way I respond to life when it decides to throw me a curveball. And there are going to be some MAJOR changes in my life too - some I can't share right now, but definitely will when they happen. And trust me, they will happen. Why? Because I am going to change and not be afraid.

Too often so many of us, especially us moms & wives, get stuck in a rut. We want to get out but don't know if we can or even how to do so. Hopefully, you will stick around with me throughout the year to see all the changes I am going to make. I also encourage everyone else to make a change - be it big or small - that will make a difference in your life. Do something that YOU want to do! After all, change can be a wonderful thing!
