Perfect Pair

Here is a little card I decided to whip up the other night. I used one of the sketches 2S4U had designed for their DT entries. I really liked the sketch itself and I absolutely love the little pears you can cut with the Home Accents cartridge! Definitely one of my fav cuts on all the carts!

The green gingham check paper is by Making Memories, while the yellow paper is by DCWV. The brown polka dot paper is by The Paper Studio. I also used my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder on the pears. The ribbon is from Michael's $1 bin (love a good bargain!!) and the button is from my stash. I used a rub-on by American Traditional Designs and the little flower is by Prima, while the adhesive pearl center is from a pack I picked up at Target's $1 Spot. Also used Pop Dots and my new Glue Glider Pro, which also happens to be my new best friend - I love it!! Oh, and the little chipboard photo corner is by Miss Elizabeth.

Thanks for taking a peek and I hope you like it! I have some other stuff I have been working on too and hope to have those up this week sometime too.

Challenge 15 Project

Well for the challenge we gave our DT over at Whimsical Scrap and Bugs, we decided to use a Mojo Monday sketch that could be used for either a card or a layout. They also had to incorporate their fav lyric, quote, scripture, etc. into the project while also using their Cricut! I chose to do a card for the project and I also decided on a whim to submit that card for publication. And guess what! The amazing people over at Scrapbook News & Review chose my card for their upcoming issue!! Yay, me!!! (doing the happy dance - hehehe)

I wish, wish, wish I could share my project with everyone, but they have asked that I not publish anywhere for at least 30 days. Therefore, I can't even post it on the Whimsical Scraps and Bugs site either. But, I wanted to make sure everyone knew that I had completed the challenge and exactly what was going on. I will make sure to share it with you as soon as I can. I will tell you that the card involves nature and a sweet little song lyric.

So, in the meantime, please visit the DT site and check out all the cool cards and layouts the ladies came up with this time. They are always amazing and I love what they do!! Also, make sure to check out the site for our next challenge too - it is gonna be a fun one!! Hope you can play along too!

Scrappy Chicks

I had so much fun with this little layout! The photos are from my first Cricut Swarm that me and one of my besties, Annette, went to awhile back. We had sooo much fun! I FINALLY got the pics developed and decided to scrap them Monday while I had the day off for my b-day, even though my b-day was actually last Friday. Couldn't take that day off from work though, but hey, a three day weekend is a three day weekend, right?!

The map for this layout came from PageMaps. All the paper used for this project is by Making Memories. The chipboard alpha is by Pressed Petals and I just used a hot pink perm. marker to edge it and then stamped on it with an SU mini flower stamp in both orange and hot pink. Then, I added little rhinestones for the flower centers. The word, chicks, I cut using the Opposites Attract cartridge on both shadow and regular. I then used the rhinestones to add a little oomph to the word and help it blend a little better. The journal tag and the 3-D flower are also by MM's and the ribbon is from a swap I participated in on the Cricut MB.Happy Scrapping!

Sweet Little Blog Award!

My lovely friend, and a DT member at the Whimsical Scraps and Bugs Cricut challenge site, Leanne gave me the sweetest award! The Lemonade Stand award goes to a blogger that shows both great attitude and gratitude! How sweet of her to think of me!!

Since I was blessed enough to be a recipient of this award, I would love to give it to a couple of other awesome ladies who are very deserving in my opinion!

Amy ~ There's Much More To Life
&
Betty ~ BettyBee's Buzz

Both of these ladies are super inspirational and I think both also show great attitude and gratitude! Make sure you check out Leanne's blog, Created by Leanne, too. She is one amazing crafter and an awesome friend too!

So Totally Happy for You

As you all know by now, I love everything nature. I had this pattern for a mushroom from a one of my scrappin' magazines and decided to put it to good use. I thought it was a pretty cute little shroom and wanted to do a card - especially since I had just got my new SU scalloped punch and am trying to find as many ways as possible to use it! LOL!

All of the paper is DCWV, except for the green gingham check and red paper which is Making Memories. The cute little shroom paper is from DCWV's Green Stack. I just can't say enough about how much I love that stack!! The flower is a chipboard button, also from DCWV, and the stem is a rub-on stitch by K&Co. The ribbon is from my stash, the stamp is Studio G and the ink is Riding Hood Red by SU.

I hope you like my little card - it is not too fancy, but I sure do think it's kinda cute!

Times Like These

It was challenge time again for our DT ladies over at Whimsical Scraps and Bugs. The assignment we gave to them was to create a layout all about themselves and wow, they did such great jobs. I love all the different styles and types of creativity that come together! I am always so excited to see what they come up with - make sure you check out their projects too if you have a chance! For this challenge I was inspired (yet again!) by Beth who recently posted this on her site. I have heard this song a million times before, but never the acoustic version. She was exactly right - it moved me. And, it really applied to some stuff I have going on right now, so I put it on paper and I hope you like it. I struggled for most of the two weeks trying to get it just right, and finally finished it last night. Guess I work better on a deadline since I am such a huge procrastinator!

I used a TON of different products for this page and tried a few new techniques out too. The photo I actually took of myself recently. I put into Photoshop and typed the second verse of the song in a different layer before grayscaling it and then tweaking it with a film grain layer. The dots on the photo are rub-ons though. I also took the chipboard letters, which were blue, painted them black, then sanded them down to get a two-tone distressed look. I also used my Opposites Attract cartridge to cut the word "like" in my title. My two fav things about this page though are the polka dot flower, which my friend Annette gave me, and the sheet music, which is actually my son's. I loved incorporating that into this layout. The journaling at the bottom just talks about how some things I am going through at this moment will make me stronger and help me to become a better person in the long run if I let them. It's times like these that make us who we are and it is okay to feel a little crazy sometimes too!

Thanks for taking a moment to read my ramblings and look at my work! Hope you hop on over to Whimsical Scraps and Bugs to look at the other ladies challenges. If you want, join us for our next challenge - it should be a blast too!

Back from the Races!

We are back from Texas Motor Speedway and, as always, it was a total blast! There is just nothing quite like picking rubber out of your ears for three days straight, battling a sunburn, and having your ears ring for a week! LOL! If only I could find a way to put the smell of the race in a bottle! And, there is just something about the fact that when you leave the races, you think your a NASCAR driver for about a week or until you get pulled over, which ever happens to come first. So far, so good though! LOL

The first pic is of me and my hubby at the Sprint Experience. I chose to post this one because I actually didn't HATE the way I looked in it for once. The other pic is of Jeff Gordon doing his victory lap after winning and making history. Not a big Gordon fan, but it was pretty to cool to be there when he won his first race at Texas that also happened to make him the only driver to have ever won on every single NASCAR track that currently exists. Neat, huh?!
Other than freezing our bums off Sunday thanks to cold front that moved in with violent winds, it was soooo much fun. A much needed break for the two of us and another couple we always go with. Oh, and our son went to a band contest while we were gone and they scored all SUPERIOR ratings! Now, they are off to Tri-State!! YAY!!! Can't wait to scrap all my new photos!!

When Nature Attacks

Finally got the chance to work with my DCWV Green Stack some more and I am still just lovin' that paper! The colors are great and it is just too cute. Plus, I don't have to feel so guilty since it is recycled! LOL!
These photos crack me up everytime I see them. They were taken on the University of Texas campus in Austin last August. TJ and I had walked to the car to get something out. On our way back from the parking garage this squirrel just runs at us out of nowhere. I started cracking up, but my son got all freaked out! He was convinced the squirrel was stalking him and going to "jump" him! LOL!! It was too funny so naturally I pulled out my camera and got a few quick shots before TJ took off running.....from a squirrel. When I was doing this layout he came in the room and said, "that is the squirrel that tried to attack me. Man, he was psycho!" I still can't quite convince him that the squirrel was probably just really, really used to people and was hoping we would feed it. I never have mentioned to him that I too thought I might have caught a devilish gleam in the little critter's eyes!

I used the George cart for the word 'attack' and Opposites Attract for the rest of the title. All the paper is by DCWV, except for the green gingham, which is by Making Memories, and the black cardstock, it is by Bazzill. The cute little bear is some Basic Grey adhesive chipboard I painted, as is the arrow, and the grass I cut myself. Pop-dotted it all for 3-D effect. The circle I cut using my Cuttlebug. Not sure who the ribbon is by since I got it in a swap, but I did use my white Sakura pen to dot the word 'when' and the word 'nature' event though it didn't show up that well in the photo. The journaling tag is Heidi Swapp and was in the V-Day can I got from Snoflak. Thanks sweetie! Oh, I also used a Page Maps template for this layout - gotta love Page Maps!

Hoping to get another layout done soon that deals with yet another squirrel story and my son. It's a little happy, a little sad, but super sweet. Maybe I will get it done next week because bright and early in the morning we are off to the races. NASCAR here we come!!!!

Thinking of Whoo

I love all things nature and got an itch to do this card the other night. I used a template I had found in Scrapbooks Etc. for the owl, which I just thought was super cute! Love owls!

I used Making Memories and My Minds Eye patterned paper; American Craft, Bazzill, and Autumn Leaves cardstock; SU scalloped punch and branch stamp (from Birds on a Branch set); American Craft and American Tradition Design rub-ons; Cofee ink by StampCraft; and a spare button and scrap of ribbon - not sure who they are by. I used pop dots on the owl and a Zig glue pen for everything else. Also, the word "whoo" I made from rub-ons by cutting out individual letters. The "thinking of" phrase was one piece and I just cut off the word "you."

I hope you like this card as much as I do. Just love the little owl! Happy Scrapping!
