Still Behind....

So, today I was going to be posting another card or layout so that I would be caught up with the challenges over at Pile It On. But nooooo, that did not happen. Why you may ask? Well, because I got the joy of staying up late making batches of potato salad and deviled eggs for a retirement party at my hubby's work.

I finally get home last night from work and dear hubby tells me that he was just told to bring a dish for the potluck retirement party. I asked them if they were taking cues from our son's school since one time several years ago I got the joy of baking 5 dozen cookies with less than 12 hours notice. Good thing I love to cook and bake - especially bake! Not mentioning sampling and eating too! LOL!

So, yesterday evening I spent my time cooking and by 11 pm I was done and definitely ready for bed. So much for my card! Hopefully it will get done tonight and nothing else pops up! At least my hubby really appreciated me not freaking out about the last moment's notice and just running into the kitchen to get things done. I know they will have such a good time today!

On another note, here is a pic of hubby and me from Sunday night. We went to the local comedy club, Loony Bin, for our brother in law's 30th birthday party. We had an absolute blast and the comedians were fantastic! If you look real close, our name tags Andy's sister got for everyone said, "Old Fart's Friend!" Lots of family, friends, and laughter!

Welcome To Paradise

I had so much fun making this card for the challenge over at Pile It On! I just love their site and have been enjoying all the creations over there too. If you have a second, make sure to check the site out because they have done a wonderful job and it is awesome!

The challenge for Pile It On! was to use two or more ribbons. I also combined that with a Mojo Monday sketch, three flowers from the Paper Blooms challenge and a color challenge using brown. However, I cannot remember for the life of me where that challenge came from. If anyone happens to know, holla at me and I will make sure to give credit where credit is due!

For this card I used Bazill cardstock and the patterned papers are from K&Co. The orange paper is by The Paper Studio. The stickers are by Miss Elizabeth and the the two flowers are from Prima, and I am pretty sure that is where the large flower is from as well. I used by SU! scallop punch and lots of ink to distress everything. The fiber ribbon is from Autumn Leaves and I am not sure who the rick rack ribbon by. I used pop dots on the sticker images as well as the large flower to make them jump out a little more. And, I also made a matching envie for this card too, a first for me!

Somehow I got behind on their weekly challenges. Only slightly behind, but still I am bound and determined to catch up! So, expect to see another card or layout post from me tomorrow to get me caught up to challenge three so that I can move on to four and FINALLY be on schedule! LOL!

Funky Little Flowers

I was browsing some of my fav blogs yesterday and came across a rockin' tutorial at Much Ado About Nothing. Pinky did a video on how to make some extremely cute lollipop flowers and I just had to try them out!

I did decide to do things a little differently though and combined both Pinky's and Maggie's (from the Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot) methods. I really like feminine things that are kind of grungy but also have a funky little edge to them. That is exactly why I liked these flowers. These three in particular took me an hour to make. Yes, I spent one hour making three flowers, but the guys were asleep so what's a girl to do late at night instead of sleeping?!

My fav thing about these flowers is that they are entirely made from scraps. And the best part is the scraps are not even expensive paper - the majority of the paper is the Miss Elizabeth line from the Dollar Tree. So, for those of us that have some not so cute, don't know what I am gonna do with that sheet of paper, this method may be for you. I think just about anything would be cute for these flowers if coordinated just right and distressed to your little hearts content! For my distressing I did use a variety of inks and stickles ranging in colors from black to yellow to orange. I think experimenting is the best part and the fact that they are imperfect is what gives these flowers their pizazz! Hope you like them as much as I do!

WSB Challenge and BBTB

I shouldn't be posting my project for the Whimsical Scraps & Bugs challenge this soon probably, but I wanted to make sure to get it up in plenty of time for the Bitten By The Bug challenge too! See, this time I combined several challenges at once for project we asked our WSB DT to create. We issued them an alphabet challenge - they had to create a project using the Cricut and the letter "S." I really enjoyed not only coming up with a project for the assigned challenge but combining it with the BBTB ShortCuts challenge and the Pile It On challenge.

The first project I did with the WSB goal in mind, the layout provided by BBTB/ShortCuts, and the non-stamped title/sentiment goal of Pile It On to create a layout of our son. The photo is of a recent trip we took to the Wichita Mtns. I then put the pic into Photoshop and desaturated some of the colors while leaving the flowers colored. I really love this effect!!!

I used the George cart for the flowers, for the title I used Opposites Attract and Beyond Birthdays, and for the butterfly I used Home Accents. All the paper is Making Memories, except for the black cardstock, which is Bazzill, and the black & white patterned paper, which is The Paper Studio. I inked the edges of the photo with black ink, used a white Sakura pen on the butterfly, and brads/skittles on the flower centers. The journaling tag is also Making Memories while the ribbon is Offray. The scalloped punch I used is by SU.

The second project I made is the Hello card, which actually pretty much matches the layout! This project is pretty much just for BBTB. This is the first time I have entered anything over there because all of their work is simply so amazing! The DT always blows my mind with their creativity! I really liked the colors I used on the layout so I decided to do something very similar for a second project. For the card, the same papers were used, except I only used the George cart for the flowers, and I used a Studio G stamp for the sentiment. The pink cardstock is Bazzill and I used Stazon ink in jet black, as well as pink skittles.

Please don't forget to check out all the wonderful projects the WSB DT will come up with for the alphabet challenge! All the projects will be posted Monday, along with our next challenge. For our new DT members this will be their first project for WSB and I just know they would love your comments. So, if you have moment, pop on over there Monday! And, don't forget to click on the links for the BBTB and the Pile It On sites too! Their sites are sooo awesome!

Thanks Dad card

I have slowly been trying my hand at coloring stamped images. Slowly but surely I think I am catching on. I love the watercolor pencils and am still trying various techniques to get the best result. (if you have any ideas to share, i am all ears!!) I decided to do another Father's Day card and the image I used is from Precious Memories. The printable stamps seem to be all the rage lately, so I found myself Googling different images. This one I actually found as a coloring page! You can find soooo many awesome images just by searching through Google. I absolutely love it! I have printed quite a few out lately and plan on working on another image tonight after I pick up a new blending pen today at M's.

I wanted to do a thanks card for Father's Day so we could really express our appreciation for all that is done. For this card I used Bazill and The Paper Studio cardstock and the striped paper is by Basic Grey. I absolutely love this sheet of Basic Grey paper! So far I haven't wasted one single scrap of it and have been able to make a total of three projects out of it so far. I still have some left and can't wait to use the rest of it! Such a cool sheet of paper! The flowers are by Prima, the center is a skittle I colored with a navy blue Sharpie, the stamp is by Studio G, and I used black dimensional paint for the appearance of tiny brads. I used StampCraft ink to distress the image and Stazon for the stamped sentiment.

Hopefully tonight I will head home after work and get another card or layout done! I am on a roll and not slowing down!!

His Faith Grows

Praise God! It seems that I just might have overcome my scrap funk and emerged on the other side! I guess I need to unload on y'all more often! LOL! I said some prayers and sequestered myself in my scrap room last night and was finally able to get the layout that I had been working on for weeks done! Yay! I was so happy that I went right into another layout of our son that I had started over the weekend and finished it. Then, I even made a card! So not only did I get out of my funk, I was on a roll!!

This layout is of my hubby when we went to the Wichita Mtns. on Memorial Weekend. We had so much fun and I was able to take some great photos. This one is one of my favorites from that day.

The cardstock used for the project is Bazzill, while the stripe patterned paper is Basic Grey, and the orange patterned paper is Miss Elizabeth. I inked the edges of pretty much everything and then used some scrap crochet ribbon, which I sewed onto the layout with yarn. The flowers I made using a new technique I learned about over at Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot. Instead of using glimmer mist though, I just inked the creases heavy for a more grungy looking effect. The buttons are from my stash. The chipboard parentheses are by DCWV and the chipboard bird is Basic Grey. I used the Opposites Attract & Home Accents cart for the title.

I really liked this layout and how it turned out in the end even though I need to find a way to add some journaling to it. My husband has come a very long way in his faith journey from the first time I met him. I couldn't be more proud of him and look forward to watching his faith grow stronger day by day, year after year. God blessed me profusely when He brought Andy into my life and I am so grateful each and every day. I went for the grungy, distressed look on the layout because for me, faith isn't always an easy or pretty path to walk. It is filled with struggles and sometimes ugliness that we have to face in order to come out stronger in the end. Our trials in life make us stronger and it is our faith that brings us through them.

I am just so happy that I have my mojo back! Can't wait to get home, finish dinner tonight and scrap some more!!!

Missing Mojo...

I have lost my mojo. Well, I am sure it is somewhere around my craft room, but I sure can't seem to find it. It seems lately that no matter what I cannot get inspired. Well, at least not by the time I get home from work, tackle the house, cook dinner, care for the family and then find time for myself anyway. Usually I am pretty good about completing a few projects a week. Lately, zilch, nada, zip. I got nothing. I have one layout I have been working on for two, going on three weeks now of my husband. It is about 3/4 complete. Same thing with another layout I started this weekend. Nearly complete; can't finish it. Managed to get the card done for the last WSB challenge but just barely. And, it seemed so simple to me and I just wasn't too impressed with my work. Don't know what it is lately, but I sure could use some advice.

So, what do y'all do when you feel a lack of inspiration or your mojo is missing? Is there a certain something you do to get going again? Is there a certain place you visit for ideas? Please share because right now I have so much I need to get done, but I just don't know what to do. Never really had it this bad before. It's kinda like really bad writer's block, which I have experienced, but came out of okay. This, well it really has me down because I can't seem to do what I love doing. Weird huh?!

Challenge 19 - Father's Day Card

This challenge was definitely a challenge for me! For some reason I had so many problems coming up with ideas for the masculine card challenge using a Mojo Monday sketch. The WSB DT came up with exceptional creations and I do hope you all get a chance to check them out! I was very impressed with their talent, as always! LOL!

This card is really simple and I am not crazy about it, but my hubby really likes it. Like he told me, simple is sometimes best, so I am going to take that and run with it!! LOL! For this card I used both the Beyond Birthdays and Opposites Atrract carts. The cardstock is Bazzill and the patterned paper is Basic Grey. The ribbon is from Michael's. I also used skittles and then covered them with black stickles. I pop dotted both the oval and the phrase, as well as inked the edges of everything for a distressed look.

I would love it if everyone would hop on over to the WSB site and take a look at all the wonderful cards the DT came up with. We also have some new DT members on board and you can look at the page dedicated solely to them here. We would also love to have everyone take part in our current challenge and send us your creations! And, if you take the time to stop by and visit, please leave a comment! We love hearing from everyone!! Some pretty exciting stuff is happening at the WSB site, so make sure to check back often. A new blinkie for all the WSB lovers will be available soon as well as the opportunity to win some awesome goodies!
